WHAT IS FALL VACATION?

Fall Vacation is a weekend retreat designed for adults 18+ years of age with cognitive and developmental disabilities and/or ASD.

Hosted at Grotonwood Camp & Conference Center, an award-winning ADA accessible Lake front facility, where children and adults have enjoyed summer camps for over 60 years.

Fall Vacation provides a respite from the everyday and inspires campers to participate in things they would not normally get the opportunity to try at home.

November 1-3, 2024

check-in ON Friday 6PM // check-out ON Sunday 1:30PM

COST: $435

Tuition includes private lodging, all meals, snacks, activities and entertainment, a 4:1 camper to staff ratio to assist with activities and ADLs, 24hr on site staff RN to administer medications and triage episodic events. Payment in full is required at time of registration.

Staffing out of season events like Spring and Fall Vacation with experienced camp staff is always a challenge. This retreat has limited capacity and is therefore not suitable for adults requiring 1:1 supervision, 1:1 assistance or complete care. To enjoy a successful experience, campers must be moderately-independent with their ADLs and have a level of mobility that allows them to climb stairs, traverse uneven terrain and stand for pro-longed periods of time unassisted. Staff provide assistance during meal times, ADL’s and ensure engagement and participation at activities.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Fall Vacation is a weekend retreat designed for adults over 18 years of age with cognitive and developmental disabilities and/or on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our ratio of camper to staff care is strictly 4:1.

Our focus is to inspire friendship, fun and fellowship through activities that stimulate conversation, social connection and provide opportunity for skill building and socialization. Our program activities such as archery for example work on fine motor skills, and our Cardio Drumming workouts incorporate aerobic exercise and focus.

Whilst we strive to provide camping experiences for all campers, this particular session is not suitable for adults requiring 1:1 care, or those who have limited mobility. Grotonwood provides exclusive programs every June for wheelchair users and those requiring a higher ratio of care.
